Here are 8 takeaways from the show:
SCU Picked Up The Victory
SCU squared off against Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, and Marko Stunt in a 6-man tag match to start off the show. Jungle Boy and Kazarian started off the match. Frankie and Jungle Boy traded roll-up attempts and then had a staredown as the crowd applauded.
Frankie connected with a Clothesline and tagged Christopher Daniels into the match. Luchasaurus tagged in to a great reaction from the crowd. Luchasaurus Suplexed Daniels and tagged in Marko Stunt. Marko hit a Dropkick in the corner and followed it up with a kick that sent Daniels out of the ring.
Stunt hit Scorpio Sky with a Hurricanrana and followed it up with a Suicide Dive to Daniels. Jungle Boy then took everyone out with a Suicide Dive. Luchasaurus then flipped onto everyone as the crowd went bananas.
Marko leaped off of Luchasaurus’ shoulders and hit Daniels with a Crossbody. Jungle Boy and Kazarian tagged in. Frankie hit Jungle Boy with a Dropkick and bounced his head off the turnbuckle. Scorpio Sky tagged in and hit Jungle Boy with a Double Stomp before tagging Daniels back in.
Daniels Clotheslined Jungle Boy before Frankie tagged back in. Kaz hit a Dropkick in the corner and Daniels tagged in. Jungle Boy connected with a Clothesline as Marko and Luchasaurus pleaded for a tag.
Luchasaurus tagged in and booted the hell out of SCU. Luchasaurus followed it up with a Chokeslam and a Standing Shooting Star Press on Kazarian for a two count. Marko hit Kazarian with a DDT and went for the cover but Daniels broke it up.
SCU sent the Jurassic Express to the outside and Scorpio Sky flipped on to Luchasaurus. Back in the ring, Kazarian lifted Marko and Jungle Boy up in the air and Daniels hit the BME for the pinfall victory.
PAC Put Kenny Omega To Sleep
Kenny Omega battled PAC tonight at All Out. The crowd chanted “Kenny!” as the two circled each other in the ring. PAC and Omega locked up to start things off. Omega caught PAC in a Headlock but Pac broke free. Kenny leveled PAC with a shoulder tackle but PAC hopped right up.
Omega taunted PAC and leaned up against the ropes with a smile on his face. The crowd joined in on the fun and chanted “205!” at PAC (formerly Neville in WWE). PAC regrouped on the outside and then planted Kenny with a Hurricanrana. Omega went for a Crossbody but PAC caught him with a kick to the midsection. Omega battled back and sent PAC into the barricade.
PAC slammed Kenny’s face into the apron and then returned the favor by launching Kenny into the barricade. PAC followed it up with a Dropkick for a near fall. PAC applied a Headlock in the middle of the ring as the crowd got behind Omega.
Omega connected with a Clothesline that sent PAC to the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Omega hit PAC with a Dropkick and then a Brainbuster for a two count. Kenny went for a Moonsault off the second rope but PAC got out of the way. PAC followed it up with a DDT for a two count.
PAC climbed to the top rope as Omega rolled out of the ring. PAC Moonsaulted onto Omega and rolled him back into the ring. PAC made his way back to the top rope and hit him with a 450 Splash for a near fall. Both wrestlers traded punches in the corner and Kenny got the better of the exchange with a massive kick.
Omega hit PAC with a Buckle Bomb and followed it up with a Spinebuster for a two count. PAC tried to use the referee as a distraction but Omega was unphased and hit him with a Dropkick. Kenny connected with the V-Trigger and then a beautiful German Suplex.
PAC planted Omega with a Cutter and then a snap German Suplex. PAC deadlifted Omega into another German Suplex for a two count. PAC perched Omega on the top turnbuckle but Kenny tripped him up and PAC fell face-first onto the top turnbuckle. Omega hit a snap Dragon Suplex and another V-Trigger for a two count.
Omega went for another V-Trigger but PAC blocked it. PAC missed with an Enziguri but connected with a Superkick. Kenny hit another V-Trigger and knocked PAC to the canvas. PAC locked in the Brutalizer and put Omega to sleep for the victory.
The crowd was shocked at the finish of this match. PAC and Omega put on a very good match that lasted roughly 25-minutes on short notice. There was a botch during the bout that Jim Ross did a great job of explaining away by saying both wrestlers were sweating profusely because they were past the 20-minute mark.
Jimmy Havoc Survived The Cracker Barrel Clash
Jimmy Havoc, Joey Janela, and Darby Allin battled tonight at All Out. Jimmy Havoc brought a staple gun into the ring and started stapling himself as the crowd chanted “you sick f*ck!”.
Darby Allin and Joey Janela put thumbtacks in Havoc’s mouth and taped it shut. Allin then flipped on Havoc as the crowd chanted “holy shit!”. Janella then brutally slammed Allin onto the apron. Havoc got up and spit out the thumbtacks at Janela and threw him into the steel steps.
Jimmy Havoc stapled Janela’s forehead and then gave him a couple of papercuts. Janela hit Havoc with a Brainbuster onto a steel chair and then Powerbombed Allin through a table. Havoc hit Janela in the face with a tray of biscuits and grabbed the barrel at the top of the ramp.
Darby brought a skateboard that was covered in tacks into the ring. Allin hit Janela with it before Havoc brought Darby back to the outside. Jimmy launched Allin into the steel steps and set up a table. Allin sent Havoc through the table and then launched Jimmy into the steps. Darby went for the Coffin Drop with a barrel but Havoc got out of the way and Allin crashed onto the steel steps.
Janela hit an Elbow Drop on Jimmy Havoc in the ring for a two count. Janela climbed to the top rope but Jimmy caught him. Havoc hit Janela with a Superplex onto a barrel and followed it up with the Acid Rainmaker for the pinfall victory.
Well, this match was absolutely insane and fun as hell to watch. Everyone took ridiculous bumps but Darby Allin’s Coffin Drop onto the steel steps was crazy.
The Dark Order Will Have A First-Round Bye In The Tag Team Tournament
Best Friends faced Dark Order tonight at All Out. The winning team will earn a first-round bye in the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament. Stu Grayson and Evil Uno (Dark Order) dominated early and beat Chuck Taylor down in the corner. Trent tagged in and sent Dark Order to the outside. Best Friends then shared a hug in the ring and the crowd erupted.
Uno grabbed Trent by the ankle and Grayson hit him with a Dropkick. Grayson followed it up with a Senton and tagged Evil Uno in. Uno dominated for several minutes but Trent was finally able to battle back with a DDT. Chuckie T was finally able to tag in and sent Grayson out of the ring.
Chuck Taylor flipped onto Dark Order and posed on the entrance ramp. Back in the ring, Evil Uno hit Trent with a Cannonball off the top rope for a near fall. Chuck hit Evil Uno with a knee to the face and tagged Trent back in. Taylor planted Grayson with a Piledriver and Trent went for the cover but Evil Uno dragged him out of the ring.
The creepers then attacked Chuck Taylor as the referee was distracted. Evil Uno tagged in and Dark Order hit Fatality for the pinfall victory. Dark Order will get a bye in the tag team tournament. After the match, the lights went out in the arena and Orange Cassidy was standing in the ring. Cassidy took out the creepers with a Suicide Dive with his hands in his pocket. Best Friends then shared a hug with Orange Cassidy.
Riho Will Face Nyla Rose To Crown The First AEW Women’s Champion On October 2nd
Riho battled Hikaru Shida tonight at All Out. The winner of the match will face Nyla Rose on TNT to crowd the first AEW Women’s Champion. Shida controlled the match early but Riho battled back and hit a Double Stomp on the apron.
Riho went for a 619 but Shida blocked it. Riho hit another Double Stomp but Shida battled back with a knee to the face. Shida hit a Suplex and went for the cover but Riho kicked out at two. Riho connected with a Northern Lights Suplex and made her way to the top rope.
Shida joined Riho on the top rope and the two traded punches. Riho got the better off the exchange and hit a Double Stomp off the top rope. Riho followed that up with Double Knees for another near fall. Riho hit Double Knees again in the corner but Shida quickly battled back and hit an awesome Backbreaker for a near fall. Riho then was able to roll-up Shida for the pinfall victory. Riho will face Nyla Rose on October 2nd to crowd the first AEW Women’s Champion.
Cody Got Revenge On Shawn Spears
Shawn Spears came down to the ring with Tully Blanchard and Cody selected MJF to be in his corner. Cody hit a Suicide Dive on Spears to start it off and then punched Blanchard in the face.
Cody and Spears battled through the crowd before returning to the ring and the match officially started. Cody and Spears once again battled outside the ring and Cody connected with a Powerslam. Blanchard held up Cody and Spears hit him with a low blow as referee Earl Hebner was distracted with MJF ringside.
Spears and Cody traded chops in the corner. Cody perched Shawn up on the top rope and hit him with a Hurricanrana. Spears hit a forearm to the face and winked at MJF. Shawn slammed Cody into the ring post and brought him back into the ring.
Shawn hit a Clothesline and started unloading punches to Cody’s head. Spears then planted Cody with a DDT on the ring apron. Spears took off Cody’s weight belt and spit on it as Tully climbed up the steel steps. Earl Hebner flipped out and told Spears to give him the belt. Spears obliged but Tully handed him another belt and Shawn hit Cody with it.
Cody got fired up and dared Spears to hit him again. Shawn did but Cody shrugged it off and stomped the hell out of him in the corner. Cody applied the Figure Four but Spears immediately reversed it. Cody was able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold. Spears took Cody out of. the ring and hit him with a devastating Death Valley Driver on the steel entrance ramp.
Back in the ring, Cody connected with Cross Rhodes and went for the cover but Hebner was distracted by Blanchard. MJF hopped on the ring apron and challenged Tully to get into the ring. Blanchard taped up his hand and got inside the ring. Spears booted MJF in the face and knocked him to the outside. Arn Anderson came down to the ring to an awesome reaction and planted Shawn Spears with a Spinebuster.
Blanchard went after Anderson and left Spears alone in the ring. Spears grabbed a steel chair from under the ring but walked into a Facebuster from Cody. Rhodes grabbed the chair but thought better of it and threw the chair to Spears. Cody hit the Disaster Kick and followed it up with Cross Rhodes for the pinfall victory.
I really enjoyed this match and Arn Anderson was an awesome surprise. I was expecting MJF to betray Cody so I’m glad that didn’t happen because it would have been obvious. I’ve come to expect a great match when Cody is involved at this point. They always have great storytelling and usually a ridiculous entrance by Cody as well. Tonight was no exception.
The Lucha Bros Retained Their Titles, LAX Arrived In AEW
The Young Bucks faced the Lucha Brothers in a Ladder Match for the AAA Tag Team Championships. Pentagon Jr. hit Matt Jackson with a Dropkick right to the groin to start the match off.
Matt and Nick Jackson battled back and hit Fenix and Pentagon with a ladder. Young Bucks posed on a ladder and got Superkicks to the face. Fenix flipped over the ladder and onto Matt and Nick Jackson outside the ring.
Lucha Brothers planted the Young Bucks with Cutters off the ladders. Pentagon Speared Nick through a table as Matt did the same to Fenix. Nick Jackson flipped onto Pentagon as Matt planted Fenix with three Northern Lights Suplexes in a row. The last Suplex slammed Fenix on top of the ladder.
Fenix hit Nick Jackson with a Hurricanrana that sent him flying into the ladder as the crowd chanted “AEW!”. Lucha Brothers brought a taller ladder into the ring and set it up under the titles. Matt Jackson connected with a Spear as Nick Jackson Moonsaulted onto Pentagon outside the ring.
Fenix took out Nick Jackson with a Springboard Moonsault of his own as Matt climbed the ladder. Pentagon and Matt traded shots on top of the ladder. Pentagon planted Matt with a Slingblade off the top of the ladder as the crowd got on their feet.
Nick Jackson ridiculously leaped through the ladder and onto Pentagon outside the ring. Fenix then leaped through the ladder and planted Matt with a Destroyer as the crowd chanted “fight forever!”. Fenix set up Matt on top of a table and climbed a ladder. Matt got up and climbed up the other side and traded punches.
Pentagon climbed up the turnbuckle and hit Matt with an incredible Destroyer through the table. Fenix and Nick set up Matt and Pentagon on opposite tables outside the ring. The two pointed at each other and hit Splashes off the top of the ladder.
Nick planted Fenix with a DDT and set up two tables next to each other. Fenix hit Nick with a Superkick but turned around into one from Matt Jackson. Nick locked Pentagon in the Sharpshooter and Matt placed the ladder on top of him. Matt locked in a Crossface at the same time. Fenix tried to capitalize and climb the ladder but Matt caught him. Matt Tombstoned Fenix but Pentagon hit him with a Superkick.
Pentagon shoved over the ladder and Nick went flying through the tables outside the ring. Nick’s foot caught on the top rope and he landed roughly on the tables. Matt ripped off Pentagon’s mask but Fenix shoved the ladder over and Matt crashed to the floor.
The Lucha Brothers made the climb to the top of the ladder and pulled them down to retain the titles. After the match, two masked men came down to the ring and attacked the Lucha Brothers and the Young Bucks. Santana and Ortiz (LAX) then took off their masks to a great reaction from the crowd.
The Young Bucks and The Lucha Brothers put on another absolutely insane match tonight. It is amazing that they can put their bodies through this on a consistent basis. AEW’s tag team division is in great shape and I cannot wait for the tournament when they start up on TNT.
Chris Jericho Is The First-Ever AEW World Champion
Chris Jericho squared off against Hangman Adam Page to crown the first AEW Champion in the main event of All Out. Hangman came down to the ring on a horse for the match and his family was shown cheering him on in the front row.
Before the match, referee Aubrey Edwards said she wanted a good clean fight and wished them both luck. Hangman drove Jericho to the corner start off the match. Jericho hit Page with an Arm Drag as dueling chants broke out. Hangman connected with a Fallaway Slam and then Clotheslined Jericho out of the ring.
Back in the ring, Hangman leveled Jericho with a big boot. Jericho battled back with a Dropkick off the second rope for a two count. Page knocked Jericho out of the ring and hit him with a Suicide Dive.
Hangman brought Jericho back in the ring but Chris went for a Springboard Clothesline and crashed to the floor outside the ring. Page went for a Shooting Star Press off the apron but Jericho countered into a Codebreaker.
Jericho shoved Hangman off the apron as he tried to get into the ring and Page crashed into the barricade. Jericho beat Hangman down in front of his family and rolled him back into the ring. Jericho went to work on Hangman’s arm and then posed in the ring.
The crowd chanted “stupid idiot!” as Jericho continued to stomp on Page’s arm. Hangman Page hit a flurry of chops but Jericho responded with a knee to the midsection. Jericho laid across the top rope for a moment before hitting Page with a Senton for a two count.
Jericho hit a Dropkick and went for another cover but Page kicked out at two. Jericho hit a Crossbody but Page rolled through and planted him with a Fallaway Slam. Page hit a Clothesline and then a Standing Shooting Star Press for a near fall.
Page hit a Russian Leg Sweep for another two count. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring. Hangman escaped and hit Jericho with an elbow to the face that busted Chris open. Page followed Jericho to the outside and slammed him into the barricade.
Back in the ring, Jericho slammed Hangman into the ring post and brought him to the apron. They then battled on the top rope and Page hit a Swinging Neckbreaker off the top for a two count. Page took off his elbow pad and hit Jericho with another elbow to the face.
Jericho battled back but got a Superkick to the face. Page hit the Buckshot Lariat and went for the Dead Eye but Jericho escaped and locked in the Walls of Jericho in the center of the ring. Page battled through the pain and was able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold.
Chris shoved Aubrey and she got in his face and threatened to disqualify him. Jericho charged at Page but Hangman hit a Back Body Drop that sent Jericho to the outside. Hangman hit a Moonsault off the top rope and bashed his knee on the entrance ramp in the process.
The action returned to the ring and Page went for another Buckshot Lariat but Jericho countered into another Codebreaker for a near fall. Page connected with another elbow to the face and went for another Shooting Star Press but Chris got his knees up. Jericho went for a Codebreaker but Page caught him. Jericho rolled up Page for a two count and then Hangman connected with the Dead Eye but Chris somehow kicked out at tow.
Hangman couldn’t believe it but regrouped and hit another Buckshot Lariat. Page went for the Dead Eye again but Jericho escaped and connected with the Judas Effect for the pinfall victory. Chris Jericho is the first-ever AEW World Champion.
Jericho and Hangman put on an excellent match to close out the PPV. AEW has something for every wrestling fan. If you like old school matches, Jericho vs. Hangman and Shawn Spears vs. Cody provided that. If you enjoy insane spot-fest matches, there were a couple of those on tonight’s show as well. Overall, AEW All Out was a great show that capped off a terrific day for professional wrestling. NXT TakeOver: Cardiff was also a great show today. You can have fun with the war between two brands, but the main takeaway should be that professional wrestling is an awesome place right now.
