A popular WWE name revealed one of the most surprising and unheard stories about her personal life. She is the backstage interviewer for Friday Night SmackDown, Cathy Kelly. She appeared for an exclusive interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. During that chat, Kelly revealed that she was diagnosed with autism.
The 37-year-old said that it changed a lot of social dynamics for her. Furthermore, Kelly added that her condition led her to have a different side when she is on WWE television, doing her duties as an interviewer.
“I think it’s just a different side to me (being on camera). I was recently diagnosed with autism, and I recognize that it changes a lot of the social dynamics that I have. So when I say introverted, I feel like it’s a little bit more than a typical person would be.”
This comes as a surprise, given Cathy Kelly’s spectacular on-screen personality and confidence. The WWE personnel have been a part of the company since 2016, but left in 2020 to pursue other ventures. However, Kelly returned to the Stamford-based promotion in 2020 and continues to remain a regular fixture of their television programming.
WWE star Cathy Kelly says she loves commercial breaks
In the same interview, Cathy Kelly said she loves the commercial breaks during WWE weekly shows. According to the backstage interviewer, it allowed superstars to be themselves and bring a different energy to the entire presentation.
I do love those commercial break segments, because I feel like people can really be themselves. “It reminds me more so of that era that we were doing a lot of interviews on digital, where it’s kind of off the cuff, and I love being in that environment where you’re just surrounded by fans. I feel like it brings a different energy to it.
As Cathy Kelly continues to remain a part of the WWE television programming, we will have to wait and see if she can explore different roles in the company.
