Seth Rollins Opens the Show
Adam Pearce has confirmed that Seth Rollins will kick off tonight’s broadcast with something to get off his chest. Bron Breakker cost Rollins his match against Gunther at WrestleMania 42 and laid him out with multiple spears on last week’s Raw. Tonight is the first chance for The Visionary to address the betrayal directly.
Roman Reigns Responds to Jacob Fatu’s Backlash Challenge
World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is in Laredo to answer Jacob Fatu’s challenge for Backlash. Fatu interrupted Reigns’ celebration on the Raw After WrestleMania, telling his cousin he needs the title. The Usos pushed back on Fatu during the following SmackDown, leaving Reigns to make his own call on whether to grant the match.
Penta vs. Rusev
Intercontinental Champion Penta meets Rusev in non-title singles action. Rusev cost Je’Von Evans a match against Ethan Page on last week’s Raw, then locked Penta in the Accolade and posed with the Intercontinental Championship after the assist. Tonight’s bout is the first measuring stick for what Rusev wants from the title scene heading into Backlash.
Bayley and Lyra Valkyria vs. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez (w/ Liv Morgan)
Bayley and Lyra Valkyria face Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez in tag action, with Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in the corner of her Judgment Day partners. Morgan won the title at WrestleMania with help from Rodriguez and Perez, and tonight gives both teams a chance to make a statement on the night the new champion runs Raw.
Joe Hendry Holds His First Raw Concert
Joe Hendry makes his official Raw debut tonight after WWE confirmed his promotion to the main roster last week. Hendry is set to celebrate the call-up with a live concert, the first segment of its kind on Raw. He follows Sol Ruca and Ethan Page on the latest wave of NXT call-ups to the red brand.
Becky Lynch Returns as Women’s Intercontinental Champion
Becky Lynch is back on Raw for the first time since defeating AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42 to become a three-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion. The win also moved Lynch past AJ on the all-time WrestleMania victories list among women. Whether tonight’s appearance is a celebration, a callout, or a setup for her first defense, expect The Man to use the microphone.
Road to WWE Backlash 2026
WWE Backlash 2026 takes place Saturday, May 9 at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Tonight’s Raw is the second show on the road to Backlash, and the Reigns segment is expected to officially lock in the World Heavyweight Championship match for the card. Additional Backlash announcements are possible across the women’s, intercontinental, and tag team divisions as WWE fills out the Tampa lineup.
