Absolute Shocker: Dolph Ziggler

When I think of Dolph Ziggler’s current situation, I think of Shawn Michaels in late 1995 and early 1996, as there are many parallels between the two. Both had held most (if not all) of the company’s midcard titles without capturing the top prize. Both started their fall with a big victory (Michaels over Ramon at SummerSlam ’95/Dolph taking down the Authority at Survivor Series), only to face adversity near the start of the year (Michaels was battered by a group of Marines/Ziggler was fired by the Authority).

It’s unclear whether Dolph’s story will end in the same manner, as he will need to win the Rumble and go onto WrestleMania before he totally replicates the Heartbreak Kid’s fairytale. One thing is clear in the current WWE though: They need to start building up stars for the next generation, and Ziggler is the perfect superstar to use as a foundation for the next decade or so. If the company is trying to book a complete swerve and elevate one of its future stars even further, don’t be shocked to see the Show Off find a way to overcome the Authority and win both his job and the Royal Rumble.

How do you feel about the aforementioned superstars? Which ones have a chance of coming out victorious? Which ones have no chance in hell? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments section.
