Rhea Ripley Wins WWE NXT Women’s Title

Shayna Baszler has been dethroned by Rhea Ripley as the WWE NXT Women’s Champion.

The contest served as the main event of the show with the title being on the line on Wednesday night on the USA Network in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University.

Ripley beat Baszler to win the NXT Women’s Title, which marks the first time that she has held the gold. Prior to this, Ripley had been competing under the NXT UK banner where she held the NXT UK Women’s Championship.

Rhea Ripley Wins After Journey

This contest has been in the works for the past month. WWE set up this contest when Ripley was attacked by Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir on the December 4th episode of NXT.

Ripley passed out in the Kirifuda Clutch. After the segment, Baszler granted Ripley her request for a title shot and was booked for the episode.

This was a key match in the women’s division as Baszler has been a top champion since winning the title back at the Evolution pay-per-view event in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in October.
