Daily Drop 6/1: NXT vs AEW Dynamite Viewership, Young Bucks Reebok Pumps Going For Big Money on eBay

It’s time for your Daily Drop on June 1, 2024. We’ve made it through another month, and things are heating up all over the pro wrestling world. Let’s get right into it.

First off, AJ Styles is not retiring just yet. He pulled a “Mark Henry” and faked a retirement speech on SmackDown this week, just to turn on Cody Rhodes and attack the Undisputed World Champion. The similarities to The World’s Strongest Man’s 2013 segment was not lost on anyone. You can check out the whole clip below.

Now, let’s get into the Daily Drop!

AEW:

Jericho Gets Trashed: Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach unloaded on Chris Jericho’s singing ability. He claimed to be as much of a wrestler as The Learning Tree is a singer, and Bach never claimed to be a wrestler.

YB Sneakers Sell Out: Those Reebok pump sneakers for the Young Bucks sold like hot cakes. Every pair has been bought at this point. In case you’re wondering, they are going for around $350 on eBay. For reference, they sold at retail for $130.

AEW Dynamite Viewership: The May 29th edition of AEW Dynamite drew 787,000 viewers and achieved a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This marks an increase from the previous week’s show, which had 713,000 viewers and a 0.24 rating in the same demographic.

WWE:

Henry Noticed: After AJ Styles’ SmackDown segment went viral, Mark Henry had to comment on how he paid tribute to that classic retirement swerve segment. Henry gave Styles his flowers in a post on Twitter/X the next morning.

Drew Still Wants Punk: After WWE SmackDown this week, Drew McIntyre proceeded to call out CM Punk. He called him a “b*tch” in the process. Their feud has been pushed back due to Punk’s injury, but the fact that Drew just inked a new WWE contract means we’re getting that match eventually.

NXT Viewership Spike: NXT averaged 703,000 viewers and scored a 0.24 rating among 18-49 year olds for their 5/28 episode, which included an appearance of Sexyy Red. Despite competing with the NBA and NHL playoffs, NXT achieved its second-best demo rating of 2024, only behind January’s New Year’s Evil, and surpassed 700,000 viewers for the first time since early January. Interestingly, these numbers are comparable to AEW Dynamite’s performance from April 24 to May 22, marking a notable but potentially outlying result for NXT, which will be interesting to monitor going forward.

JoJo Speaks on Windham: Although the wrestling world tragically lost Bray Wyatt last year, his fiancé JoJo Offerman says that she still feels him visit her.

WWE 2K Creations: SEScoops debuted a new weekly feature this week, where we highlighted the best community creations this week. There are some impressive additions from CM Punk to Liv Morgan attire. MJF also made the list as a playable character. You may find that feature below.
