2024 WWE Releases & Departures Tracker (Updated)

Working for WWE is a dream job for many people, but even dream jobs don’t last forever. Each year unfortunately brings dozens of releases and departures, but when the year starts with Vince McMahon leaving in January, you know it’s going to be a rocky road ahead.

This WWE Releases & Departures tracker will be updated throughout the year as additional details are made public.

January 2024

Kevin Patrick (Announcer)

Kevin Patrick was the first firing of 2024 on January 24th, and this happened right after he was taken off the SmackDown announce team. SE Scoops’ own Aaron Varble was the first to report this story. Patrick only had a few months on the blue brand before he was axed.

Vince McMahon (Executive)

Vince McMahon resigned from WWE on January 25th, 2024. This landmark decision came after Janel Grant’s lawsuit uncovered heinous allegations against him. Although McMahon denied those allegations, he still resigned. It was later revealed that his resignation came after he was advised by top TKO executives.

February 2024

Amari Miller (Wrestler)

NXT talent Amari Miller announced she’s done with WWE after her 3-year contract expired. She also threw some shade at her haters in the announcement about her departure from the company. In the process, Miller also revealed that her new ring name is Camron Clay.

Matt Camp (Broadcaster)

Matt Camp was fired from WWE on the week of February 7th. News broke on February 14th that the long-time host of The Bump, who never missed an episode, was axed from his job. This came as a big surprise for a lot of people backstage within the company.

Jennifer Pepperman (Executive)

Senior Writer and Producer Jennifer Pepperman departed from WWE. The news broke on February 15th, and it was reportedly her decision to leave. She has a background in soap operas, and was with the company since 2017. Upon her exit, Adam Pearce had very nice words for her. She later joined AEW, and many believe it was specifically to work with Mercedes Mone once again.

Nick Bonanno (Writer)

On February 27th, another writer departed from the company, but this time it was from the NXT brand. Nick Bonanno left the company, but it was not noted where he may go next.

March 2024

John Porco (Executive)

John Porco, a longtime executive who had been with the company since June 1999, left the company. His departure was noted on March 20th, but it was reported he resigned a month prior to that. Porco was Senior Vice President of Live Events Marketing.

April 2024

Dan Ventrelle (Executive)

Dan Ventrelle, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, was let go on April 11. He had joined WWE years ago and was closely associated with Nick Khan and Paul Levesque within the company.

Trent Wilfinger (Executive)

Trent Wilfinger, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Athlete ID & Development, also left on the same day. He started at WWE in summer 2021, focusing on Global Athlete Strategy & Development under Paul Levesque. Before joining WWE, he worked for over ten years at the fitness company EXOS.

Sue Aitchison (Director)

Sue Aitchison, who was WWE’s longtime Director of Community Relations, was let go from the company. This news was reported on May 13. Aitchison joined the company in 1986 and remained there for over 38 years. She was a key figure in WWE’s community outreach efforts and played a pivotal role in developing the company’s relationship with Make-A-Wish. In 2019, Sue was given the Warrior Award as part of the WWE Hall of Fame, with Stephanie McMahon doing the honors of inducting her.

Sid Scala (Wrestler)

Sid Scala, known mainly as the British Superstar, was released from the company. He had been with WWE since the inception of the NXT UK brand in 2017. During his tenure, Scala served as the Assistant General Manager alongside British wrestling legend Johnny Saint.

Rob Schamberger (Artist)

Everyone knows Rob Schamberger’s work, as one of WWE’s top artists for over a decade. He painted artwork of many Superstars, and the company sold prints for years, sometimes with autographs included. He made the announcement that he parted ways with the company on April 15.

Von Wagner (Wrestler)

Wagner’s released was reported as part of the April 19 crop of releases. He never made it to RAW or SmackDown, but he was drafted as a free agent as part of the 2023 WWE Draft. He was managed by Mr. Robert Stone, who kept his job with WWE through the releases.

Jinder Mahal (Former WWE Champion)

Mahal’s release was a big one for WWE fans, because the company finally hindered Jinder for real. He was fired in 2010, and made his return a few years later to become WWE Champion. We will have to see what is next for his story in pro wrestling.

Veer Mahaan (Wrestler)

Along with Jinder Mahal, WWE also released Veer Mahaan. He came to WWE in a very interesting fashion, because in 2008, Veer won “The Million Dollar Arm,” an Indian reality show designed to find the best baseball pitcher in India. Despite having no prior experience with baseball, he threw 87 miles per hour and won from over 37,000 contestants, earning a $100,000 prize. His story was later adapted into a 2014 Disney film starring Jon Hamm. After his baseball career stalled, Singh joined WWE in 2018.

Sanga (Wrestler)

Sanga’s release was a sad one for fans who miss seeing his random dancing on television. He was teamed up with Veer, where they had a formidable team as Indus Sher, but they sadly never got that to amount to much.

Xyon Quinn (Wrestler)

Quinn was released from WWE on April 19, 2024. Coming from rugby, Xyon Quinn quickly caught attention in WWE. Declared a free agent during the April 2023 WWE Draft, he appeared on both Raw and SmackDown. He competed in a battle royal on May 15, 2023, on Raw but was eliminated by The Viking Raiders. His last WWE match was a quick defeat by Bron Breakker on March 1, 2024, on SmackDown.

Xia Li (Wrestler)

Once signed on by WWE in hopes that they had a potential top Chinese Superstar, Xia Li never connected with audiences like she should have. She was ripped from her Tian Sha angle on NXT television in 2021 when Vince McMahon brought her up without much of a plan. They never got things going for her, and despite giving her a snazzy augmented reality entrance and a few good spotlights, things didn’t come together fro Xia Li.

Cameron Grimes (Wrestler)

After not appearing on television for about a year, Cameron Grimes was released from WWE. He let fans kn
ow this in a passionate and emotional video message, that he later deleted. You can read all about it and see his video message here.

May 2024

Brad Blum (Executive)

Chief Operating Officer Brad Blum resigned on May 1st, marking another significant departure for the company. It is understood that Blum chose to resign voluntarily and was not pressured to leave. His exit adds to the list of recent high-profile departures from WWE. Blum was regarded as one of the top three most influential executives at WWE, alongside Nick Khan and Paul Levesque.

Drew Gulak (Trainer)

Drew Gulak was released from WWE on May 3, along with several members of the NXT roster. He was called out by Ronda Rousey for touching the string of her sweatsuit not too long ago. He hadn’t appeared on WWE television since she name-dropped him in that negative light, as his absence was explained in a creative angle.

Darrell Mason (Wrestler)

He was part of the May 3 releases. Before joining WWE, he excelled in wrestling at Minnesota State. During the 2022-23 season, he posted a 17-4 record and earned All-American status by finishing third at the national championship and winning the NCAA Division II Super Region V tournament. The previous year, he was undefeated with a 22-0 record, won the NCAA Division II national championship, and received accolades as the NWCA DII Wrestler of the Year and NSIC Wrestler of the Year. He also secured his first national tournament berth by winning the Super Region tournament and was named to the First Team All-NSIC.

Vlad Pavlenko (Wrestler)

As another part of the May 3 releases, Pavlenko entered WWE with a background in track & field for Iowa State.

Ezekiel Balogun (Wrestler)

Ezekiel Balogun was released from WWE on May 3. Prior to his pro wrestling career, he played college basketball as a forward, first at The Citadel and then at North Florida. Standing 6-6 and weighing 238 pounds, Balogun hails from Lagos, Nigeria and attended Hamilton Heights High School. During his basketball career, he played 87 games, averaging 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Kiyah Saint (Wrestler)

Also included in the WWE releases on May 3 was Saint, who made her wrestling debut in an NXT Level Up episode on August 25, 2023. In her first match, she competed against Kiana James but did not secure a win. Saint returned to the ring for NXT Level Up on October 13, 2023, where she faced Ivy Nile, but again experienced a loss.

Emma Diaz (Wrestler)

Emma Diaz was released on May 3 after participating in only three matches for WWE. In her first match, she was defeated by Lola Vice at a WWE NXT live house show in Orlando, Florida. In her second appearance, she teamed up with Kiyah Saint and Stevie Turner but lost to Fallon Henley, Kelani Jordan, and Thea Hail at a show in Venice, Florida. Her final appearance was in a Halloween Costume Rumble at a WWE NXT live house show in Davenport, Florida.

Valentina Feroz (Wrestler)

Valentina Feroz’s inclusion in the May 3 releases came as a surprise, given her numerous appearances on NXT television. Before joining WWE, she was known both as a Brazilian martial artist and a professional wrestler. Feroz was actively competing under the same ring name on WWE’s NXT brand.

Keyshawn Leflore (Wrestler)

Coming from the cheerleading world, Leflore was a legit member of the Spirit Squad. He had 6 national championships under his belt prior to entering the WWE PC. He was also part of the May 3 cuts.

Trey Bearhill (Wrestler)

Despite showing potential, Trey Bearhill was released on May 3. Bearhill first appeared on the August 4, 2023, episode of NXT Level Up, where he was defeated by Myles Borne. Bearhill also lost his spot in the NXT Breakout Tournament to Lexis King. He faced Borne again in a rematch on the November 3, 2023, episode of NXT Level Up, but was unsuccessful once more.

Julian Baldi (Wrestler)

Julian was a part of the WWE: Next Gen series which airs on The Roku Channel. Baldi played football at Valdosta State University. He was also a part of the May 3 cuts.

Gable Steveson (Wrestler)

WWE released Gable Steveson three years after he inked a deal following his gold medal win at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Games with a lot of fanfair as their first NIL signing. Initially drafted to Raw, reports soon emerged of his underwhelming progress at the Performance Center. Steveson’s official debut went down at NXT Great American Bash 2023, where he received “You’re Not Angle” chants from the crowd, which resulted in a count-out draw against Baron Corbin. He competed at WWE NXT live events and participated in dark matches before SmackDown, but things just didn’t pan out for him and his release was reported on May 3.

Jerry Lawler (Legendary Broadcaster)

It was reported on May 6 that the WWE Hall of Famer exited after the company quietly declined to renew his announcer contract at the beginning of 2024. This ended a relationship that stayed firm since 1992. Although Lawler’s contract was not renewed, he is still under a Legends contract with the company.

Michael Levin (Executive)

On May 11, it was announced that Michael Levin was let go from the company. He served as Vice President of International Events and General Manager of Emerging Markets. Levin joined WWE in August 2016 after positions at Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and STX Entertainment, where he was the SVP of Brand Partnerships. Levin started as the VP of International and was promoted to VP of International Events in 2019. In July 2020, he was promoted the the position he had until his release.

Steve Rubin (Executive)

On May 11, it was reported that Steve Rubin, who had been with WWE for 26 years, left the company. Rubin’s most recent role was Senior Director of TV Event Relations. He began his career at WWE in 1998 as a production assistant. Over the years, Rubin progressed to Senior Associate Producer, where he contributed to WWE’s Fanatics series. He later assumed the role of Senior Director, a position he held for more than a decade.

Kristen Prouty (Executive)

Kristen Prouty, one of the names let go, had worked with WWE since 2000. She had become the Senior VP of Entertainment Relations, a position she held for nearly 20 years. Prouty was instrumental in helping land the Logan Paul deal. Her release was announced on May 23.

Tavia Hartley (Executive)

Another name gone is Tavia Hartley, who was hired in 2021. Hartley was listed as a Talent Operations and Appearances Manager. News of her release also broke on May 23.

Beth Fisher (Executive)

Beth Fisher, WWE’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, was released on May 25 after 13 years with the company. She started as an assistant to Vince McMahon in 2011, later becoming a senior manager in Marketing and Communications, and was promoted to her most recent role in 2019.

Kristen Prouty (Executive)

Senior Vice President of Entertainment Relations Kristen Prouty, who had worked with the company since 2000, was fired from the company. Her release was reported on May 25.

June 2024

Becky Lynch (Wrestler)

This is an entry nobody thought would be on this list, but The Man’s contract expired. It was reported that she is taking an extended hiatus from pro wrestling. After her WrestleMania 40 loss to Rhea Ripley, Lynch was expected to take time off, but she st
epped in as Women’s World Champion when Ripley was injured. Lynch lost her title to Liv Morgan at WWE’s King & Queen Of The Ring in Saudi Arabia and, in her final WWE match under her previous contract, lost a Steel Cage match to Morgan on this week’s RAW with unintentional help from Dominik Mysterio. That was her final match in WWE, but she was quick to post “To Be Continued…” after her loss.
