Roman Reigns Reveals How His Hobbs & Shaw Role Came About

Roman Reigns reveals how he got his Hobbs & Shaw role

Roman Reigns took time off from WWE for his cancer treatment in October 2018. While he was originally expected to stay away for longer, Reigns’ recovery went better than expected and he returned to WWE in February this year.

During his time off, Reigns not only spent a lot of time with his family but he also managed to film his role in the Fast and Furious Spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw”. During a recent interview with Extra TV, the Big Dog revealed how his role in the film came about.

Reigns revealed that he had already auditioned for the film before taking a hiatus from WWE. According to the former Champion his real-life cousin Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was keeping tabs on him, making sure that his recovery was going as planned.

Once Reigns started feeling good, he told the Rock about it. He was thinking about returning to the ring sooner than originally planned and when Johnson asked him if he had time for the role, Roman revealed to him that he had already auditioned for it:

“I had already auditioned, my tape was already out there. Dwayne was keeping tabs on me making sure everything was going good with the recovery. (Once I started feeling good) He said what about this. Do you have a little bit of time? I said I already auditioned for that. If you are cool with it I am cool with it. “

Continuing on the topic, Roman Reigns also revealed that for the first couple of months during his treatment, he had isolated himself with his family and that’s where he went through the bulk of his trouble.

Reigns played the role of The Rock’s cousin, Mateo Hobbs in Hobbs & Shaw. The Fast And Furious spin-off is set to debut in theatres worldwide on 2nd of August.
